Transfer Student FAQs
How will my credits transfer?
Each credit is evaluated to determine if it can be applied as a direct equivalent, major/minor elective, core course or general elective. Any course below a 100 level or a technical program course will not be eligible for transfer credit. To see how courses are evaluated, visit our Transfer Course Equivalency website.
Montevallo also participates in STARS (Statewide Transfer & Articulation Reporting System). STARS is a web database system that provides guidance for prospective transfer students. Click here for additional information about your particular program of study.
When will I get my advisor?
The University of Montevallo requires all incoming students to attend orientation to register for courses for their first semester. At orientation, representatives from each department will be available to assist you with registration. You will be assigned a faculty advisor from your department during your first semester. You will meet with them one-on-one each semester to plan your course load for each subsequent semester.
What scholarships are available to me?
Transfer students can qualify for multiple scholarships. Please visit our scholarships page for additional information.
How much will it cost?
In an effort to assist students with the rising costs of higher education, the University of Montevallo’s tuition has not been increased since the 2018-19 school year. Check out our estimated cost of attendance page for additional information.
Can I live on campus?
Transfer students are permitted to live on campus. UM provides nine different residence halls for students to interact. Our residence halls range from traditional to apartment-style. Housing fills up quickly and is granted based on the date you apply for housing. So, be sure to apply for housing early.
